Samuel Sim, the founder of Kamikaze Toys and Hobbies started playing R/C at the young age of 18. Originally starting in the sport of On-Road Hobbies running a Team Associated RC200, he watched the sport of R/C hobbies evolve. From cars with no suspension and no differentials with direct drive transmission from motor to axle to what it is today and all the technology incorporated with the sport of R/C.

After moving to California, he studied what R/C was in the area and found himself joining the Off-Road scene. Running 1/10th stadium trucks at the closed down but not forgotten Ranch Pit Shop in the city of Pomona, he and his son Nigel, who was at the age of six, turned this into their Saturday evening pastime. After racing Off-Road for a long period of time, Sam eventually switched back to 1/8th scale 4wd on-road running the Picco RS600 at Revelation Raceway in its early days.
Finding less and less time to play, and lacking an adequate pit-man to join him on race days, Sam had to set R/C aside and focus on work and his family. As time passed on, Sam and Nigel eventually came back to the sport with his second son, Spencer. They started playing again in the summer 2001 when the Team Associated Nitro TC3 was debuted.
Running at Crystal Park R/C Raceway, they learned many things about what was new in the world of R/C and all of the equipment that was released in the time that they had taken a break. When Revelation Raceway re-opened the three of them decided to channel their efforts at this track where they further continued their R/C career to this day.
